DAPURPACUID – GAC Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. (GAC Honda) begins operating the Development District NEV Factory, which will produce new energy vehicles (NEV).
The new factory is located in the Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development District, in the center of Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China.
“This newest NEV factory is equipped with the latest production technology to achieve a highly efficient, intelligent and low-carbon production system,” wrote GAC Honda in its official broadcast.
In the stamping and welding processes, spare parts logistics are fully automated, eliminating the need for logistics personnel.
This factory is also the first Honda production facility to adopt AI (artificial intelligence)-based welding strength inspection technology.
Meanwhile, for the assembly process, around 30 percent of the entire process has been automated to create a highly efficient production line.
A solar power system with a total capacity of 22 megawatts will be installed. The use of renewable energy is expected to reduce annual CO2 emissions by around 13,000 tonnes.
In the future, GAC Honda will use newly developed low-VOC paint and install equipment capable of treating 100% of the toxic substances contained in factory wastewater.
To reduce air pollution, it is targeted to reduce VOC emissions from this new factory by more than 70 percent, compared to the standard limit set by Guangdong Province.
For your information, Honda has set a global goal to achieve carbon neutrality in all products and company activities involving the brand by 2050.
Specifically in China, Honda plans to launch a total of 10 Honda branded EV models in 2027, including the e:N Series which was introduced in 2022, as well as the Ye Series.
