- The oleophobic layer is a special coating that protects the display from grease
- It has a lot of positive influences, but it needs to be taken care of
- Some Galaxy S24 displays are showing excessive wear after less than a year
As pointed out by the server Android Authority and some users on social network X, the displays of some Samsung Galaxy S24 phones show wear of the protective oleophobic layer of the displaywhich should not happen after less than a year since its publication.
The oleophobic layer is a special coating that repels grease. Thanks to this, the fingers slide more easily on the screen, the screen is easier to clean. It also has a positive effect on touch sensitivity. Damage occurs through intensive use, improper cleaning and, of course, mechanical stress in general. It needs to be cared for to a reasonable degree.
So wear and tear is expected, but not after less than a year and to such an extent. But we cannot know how the owners of the phones that came with the problem took care of their phones. It is quite possible that, for example, they used unsuitable cleaning agents or the damage occurred in a way other than normal use.

The display of the Samsung Galaxy S24 is proud less reflectivity compared to previous models. But we cannot say whether the faster wear of the protective oleophobic layer is related to this improvement.
