Galaxy S25: Samsung relies on elegance, power and a fresh design

Things are heating up in the rumor mill surrounding Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series, as the new flagship smartphone is expected to be released in January 2025. As usual, the manufacturer is revealing few or no details until the official unveiling. The first leaks and rumors still give an impression of what fans could expect. We have summarized the most current information.

Galaxy S25: Slimmer and more compact design

Samsung is apparently relying on a slimmer and lighter design for the Galaxy S25 models. The dimensions of the S25 series were recently revealed in a leak, showing a reduction in width and thickness compared to the Galaxy S24 should show.

The regular Galaxy S25 therefore measures 146.94 x 70.46 x 7.25 mm and is therefore more compact than its predecessor (147.0 x 70.6 x 7.6 mm). According to leaks, the S25 Plus and S25 Ultra will also be narrower and less thick. Particularly exciting: The Ultra model will come with rounded edges and grow slightly in height to create space for the new look.

New camera design for the Ultra model

The camera design of the Galaxy S25 Ultra could also be revised. Samsung is said to be working on its foldable model here Galaxy Z Fold 6 orient and attach more prominent rings around the lenses and auxiliary sensors.

This optical adjustment is intended to give the Ultra model a fresher design, although the camera hardware is likely to remain largely unchanged – apart from a new ultra-wide-angle lens with higher resolution. According to rumors, the 200 MP main sensor and the 10 and 50 MP zoom lenses also appear to be carried over from the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Galaxy S25: Thinner frames, familiar display sizes

In the display area, Samsung should according to leaker IceUniverse Score with extremely narrow bezels: The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s display bezels could be reduced to just 1.15 mm, making it narrower than that iPhone 16 Pro (1.2 mm) would make.

This gives the Ultra model an almost frameless look. However, there are no changes in the display sizes – the Galaxy S25 remains at 6.17 inches, the S25 Plus at 6.7 inches and the Ultra model remains at 6.8 inches.

Galaxy S25: Everywhere with Snapdragon 8 Elite?

While it was initially assumed that the upcoming S25 series would be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (which is now called Snadragon 8 Elite) or by Samsung’s own Exynos 2500, depending on the region, the current status is different.

The rumor mill is currently assuming that the entire series will rely on the Snapdragon 8 Elite, regardless of region. The Ultra model should also be equipped with 12 GB of RAM and at least 256 GB of storage.

Availability and price: market launch in January 2025?

The Galaxy S25 series, like its predecessors, is scheduled to be officially presented in January. The price of the basic model of the S25 is expected to be around 600 euros, the S25 Plus could be around 775 euros and the Ultra around 960 euros. Whether these rumors turn out to be true remains to be seen until the official unveiling.
