Galaxy Z Fold 6: Special Edition officially announced

Only in Korea

Samsung is releasing the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in a new special edition that clears up some of the criticisms of the regular release. However, the foldable will only go on sale in Korea.

For some time there have been persistent rumors about a special edition of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, which was only released in the summer, and were confirmed a few days ago with a short teaser. Like the South Korean company in one Press release Now explained, the new “Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition” will soon go on sale – but only in South Korea. In the future, the smartphone will also be available in China under the name “Samsung W2025”, while a European launch is probably not planned.

Compared to regular Galaxy Z Fold 6 The display of the Special Edition is enlarged: Instead of 7.6, the new version now has 8 inches in the main display with a slightly increased resolution of 2,184 x 1,968 pixels. The external display is also slightly larger at 6.5 instead of 6.3 inches and has a higher resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels.

The Special Edition also receives some upgrades under the hood. The RAM here is expanded to 16 GB (regular Z Fold 6: 12 GB); the internal capacity is 512 GB. The main camera gets a new 200 MP sensor, which addresses one of the biggest criticisms of the regular Fold 6 with its 50 MP camera. The 12 and 10 megapixel ultra-wide-angle and depth sensors, however, will probably be adopted directly. The same applies to the processor; the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is still used here.

Despite the additional technology, Samsung has managed to make the Galaxy Z Fold 6 significantly slimmer with the Special Edition. The thickness shrinks from 12.1 to 10.6 millimeters when closed. When opened, however, it is only 4.5 millimeters. However, the battery capacity remains the same at 4,500 mAh. The price in South Korea is around 2.8 million won, which is equivalent to around 1,866 euros.
