Galeries Lafayette celebrates its 130th anniversary in style

From September 6 to October 27, the department store chain invites passers-by to celebrate its 130th anniversary by organizing numerous events and launching exclusive collections.

130 years, that’s worth celebrating! The famous Galeries Lafayette Haussmann (Paris 9e) have seen things in a big way to celebrate this special anniversary. For nearly two months, a program full of surprises and celebrations will liven up the aisles of the establishment.

The main animation imagined by the brand remains the birthday table, installed from September 21 to 1is October under the Dome of the department store. Through a draw, this will allow many passers-by “to live a unique and free experience” : A lunch seen from above (two hours), an aerial snack (one hour) or even a dinner made with food and Moët & Chandon champagne pairings (two hours)… Every day, five tasting sessions will be organized and offered to the lucky winners of the competition.

To participate in the latter, simply register by indicating, via an online form reserved for adults, the number of potential companions and the preferred dates and sessions. “Little tip: to have a better chance of winning, we advise you to select weekdays and snacks”the department store said.

The launch of exclusive collections

At the same time, several collector’s collections are being launched by Galeries Lafayette to mark its 130th anniversary.e anniversary. Victoria Beckham, AMI Paris, Isabel Marant but also Patou, Marine Serre, via APC, Rouje, Balzac Paris or even Ines de la Fressange… Famous designers and brands have developed exclusive creations – such as Made in France T-shirts and hoodies, caps, bucket hats, tote bags or even lighters – for a special sale organized from September 6 to October 27 in a pop-up at 3e floor of the Haussmann store, as well as on galerieslafayette.com.

Similarly, the brand is taking advantage of this event to launch a special “anniversary” collection of clothing and accessories, highlighting the colorful logo of the department store’s 130th anniversary. Thus, unusual items such as a limited edition vinyl “celebrating 130 years of new things” and bringing together singles from artists of different generations – like Michel Berger and Aya Nakamura – have been available for sale since September 6.

Cyril Lignac pastry shop and Moët & Chandon will take part in the celebration

Two pop-up stores will also open their doors in Galeries Lafayette Haussmann for the occasion. First, from September 11 to January 28, Cyril Lignac Pastry Shop will be installed in the aisles of the historic establishment at 9e arrondissement (in the Le Gourmet store). And for the 130th anniversary of the brand, this place will offer, in a limited edition and exclusively, its emblematic Ourson Guimauve XL milk. Then, the champagne house Moët & Chandon will set up an exclusive pop-up store offering consumers a unique range of bottles designed especially for the anniversary of Galeries Lafayette.

And as if all this were not enough, the department store chain launched, on September 6, the podcast Midnight at the Galleries to tell its 130 years of history. “Each episode is an opportunity for an immersive stroll through the nocturnal sounds of stores, through well-known places and hidden backstage areas, crossing the hands that work at night to make places magical during the day.”the company says on its website. Personalities such as Philippe Houzé, Pedro Winter and Nathalie Rykiel have participated in episodes of this podcast.

In the same spirit, night tours of the department store will be organized on September 21, during European Heritage Days. The opportunity for visitors to discover the history of this place by wandering through its different floors.
