Game Pass ruins sales so much that the three best-selling games on Steam are on the subscription

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is dominating sales on Steam in the week from 19 to 26 November 2024, confirming the success of its launch with over one million copies sold in 48 hours on PC and Xbox Seriesconsole available for purchase on Amazon), despite being included in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscriptions.

SteamDB’s weekly ranking sees it in second place Steam Deckfollowed by Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 e Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 which ranks fourth. Both games are also included in the Xbox Game Pass subscription.

Among other new features, Luma Islandthe simulation adventure from Feel Free Games, placed eighth. Noteworthy is the absence of Star Wars: Outlaws from the top 10, despite an initially promising launch on Steam.

The complete ranking also includes the presence of consolidated titles such as EA Sports FC 25, Farming Simulator 25 e Disney Dreamlight Valleyconfirming the mix of new features and already established games that characterizes the preferences of Steam users.

This top 10 reflects the current trends of the PC gaming market, with a strong presence of simulation games and titles belonging to popular franchisesalongside new releases that have managed to capture a large number of players.

In any case, it’s good to see that the Xbox Game Pass subscription apparently isn’t ruining the sales of these games. STALKER 2, Call of Duty and Flight Sim are just three examples that disprove the legend of ruined sales. Starfield has reached 15 million players and sales on Steam alone are estimated to be over 3 million. Other devs have also highlighted how useful the subscription is, as is the case with Frostpunk 2which is expected to have reached half a million copies on PC, improving the studio’s profits by 211% and they also make money from its introduction of subscription.

In short, maybe services don’t do that much harm to the world of video games. As long as they are well thought out.
