Gamma completes the acquisition of Placetel

Gamma Communications announced the takeover of Placetel in mid-August, and the acquisition has now been completed. The former Cisco subsidiary now belongs to the Gamma Group. The takeover is intended to strengthen Gamma’s presence in Germany, although the two companies will operate independently.

With the takeover, Gamma is not only expanding its market share in the UCaaS business, the acquisition also gives the provider access to Cisco Webex. The collaboration tool has been marketed by Placetel for some time. In the future, Gamma’s partners will also sell the US provider’s UCaaS solution. In the spring, Gamma announced that it wanted to focus on its own solution Flex – which comes from its subsidiary GNTel. This decision has apparently been revised – in favor of Webex. In addition, the Gamma Group wants to push the marketing of Webex in other European countries.

“With the addition of Webex to our portfolio, we are offering both partners and customers the right choice of tools to succeed in today’s dynamic world,” said Andrew Belshaw, CEO of Gamma. “The recent acquisition of Placetel is further evidence of our commitment to expanding our Cisco partnership, strengthening our presence in the UK, Germany and across Europe, and providing our partners and customers with the greatest choice and best results.”
