Vegetables such as garlic, asparagus, pork potatoes, and chicory have been shown to prevent obesity and diabetes.

A research team from Imperial College London conducted a three-year investigation into the specific health benefits of various vegetables with support from the British Diabetes Charity.

As a result, it was found that the fiber in garlic, asparagus, pork potatoes, and chicory eliminates hunger and reduces obesity caused by excessive food intake.

It was also discovered that these vegetables play a role in controlling sugar levels in the blood in the body. These vegetables reduce the risk of obesity and type 2 diabetes.

The research team explained, “These vegetables activate intestinal hormones, help us forget hunger, and increase sensitivity to insulin produced in the pancreas. The more these vegetables we eat, the more effective we are at preventing obesity and diabetes.”

If diabetes is left untreated, the risk of kidney dysfunction, heart disease, and stroke increases. Based on this study, the research team hopes to develop a treatment that can prevent obesity and adult diabetes using ingredients found in vegetables.

The results of this study were published in the Times of India under the title ‘Asparagus, garlic can fight obesity.’

Green leafy vegetables reduce diabetes

Previously, a research team at the University of Leicester in the UK announced the results of a study showing that green leafy vegetables reduce diabetes. Broccoli, spinach, and cabbage contain a lot of antioxidants and magnesium, making them effective in preventing diabetes.
