At least 73 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on Beit Lahiya in Gaza, the Gaza government’s media office said on Saturday evening, according to the Reuters news agency. The death toll has not been independently confirmed.
Earlier, rescue workers told Reuters that at least 10 had been killed in attacks on Beit Lahiya on Saturday. The latest announcement from Gaza’s Hamas-controlled media office is thus a major upward adjustment.
According to the rescuers, several houses in Beit Lahiya were hit. The town is close to the large Jabalia camp in northern Gaza, which Israel has recently besieged, and where at least 30 were reported killed on Friday evening.
