The car manufacturer Geely is going to make its official debut on the Romanian market at the end of September. The first model to be sold will be a small SUV.
Geely is going to enter the car market in Romania with the help of the company Maxx Mobility, which will represent the Chinese manufacturer in our country, reports Economica.ro. Thus, the Geely company is going to market several models in Romania as well, among which will be the Coolray SUV, which we had the opportunity to drive in the spring of this year.
The company Maxx Mobility, registered in Bucharest, in Romania, as early as the summer of 2022, will represent the Geely brand on the Romanian market. The official debut of the brand on the Romanian market will take place on September 20, 2024. To begin with, there will be 12 sales and service points in the country. They will be located in Bucharest, Arad, Brașov, Constanta, Craiova, Galați, Iași, Slatina and Târgu Mureș.
What models will Geely sell in Romania?
The first car that the Chinese manufacturer will bring to Romania is the Coolray SUV. We have contacted this one in the past, being an SUV with similar dimensions to the Dacia Duster, for example. It will compete with the Romanian SUV, but also with cars like the MG ZS, being a segment B SUV.
When I drove the car, I noticed that the Coolray SUV comes standard with full LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, 360 cameras and a power tailgate. Also, all versions use a 1.5-liter 172 hp engine.
Coolray will be followed by the Starray or E5 models, a sign that the Chinese manufacturer wants to expand. And he is not the only one, because more and more brands from Asia are starting to penetrate the European markets, including Romania. An example is the MG brand, which returned to Romania at the end of last year with a range of thermal, hybrid and full electric models.
