Nvidia’s GeForce Now service is without a doubt one of the best cloud gaming platforms currently available on the market. And if the prices of the two premium subscriptions offered (Priority and Ultimate) seemed too high, you should know that this summer, 50% discounts are fortunately coming to lighten the bill. But be careful, this won’t last.
Launched in February 2020, the service cloud gaming Nvidia’s GeForce Now gives you access to a host of compatible games from Steam, Epic Games, GoG and Uplay game stores, which can be played on many platforms. And all this while benefiting from the brand’s expertise, which notably offers gamers features graphics such as the ray-tracing and DLSS. Today, Nvidia is offering players three subscriptions: a free one, a Priority one and an Ultimate one. And it’s these last two that are even more interesting right now since they are at -50%.
The benefits of GeForce Now premium subscriptions
- Multi-hour gaming sessions
- Games in Full HD 60 FPS (Priority) or 4K 240 FPS (Ultimate)
- Quick access to servers
Instead of 10.99 euros per month, the one-month GeForce Now Priority subscription is displayed at half price, i.e. 5.49 euros per month. For six months, this corresponds to 27,49 euros instead of 54.99 euros. The subscription would therefore cost you 4.58 euros per month. And this, until August 18, 2024.
As for the GeForce Now Ultimate subscription, the month is offered at 10.99 euros instead of 21.99 euroswhile a six-month subscription now costs 54,50 euros instead of 109 euros, there too until August 18, 2024.
Priority Subscription: The latest AAA games with RTX ON
Play the latest video games on a smartphone, tablet or PC as if our device was equipped with at least a GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card. This is what the GeForce Now platform allows you to do. Let’s start with the Priority subscription: this first of all allows you to benefit from priority access to Nvidia’s premium servers (so you will never have to queue) and gaming sessions that can last up to six hours. Note that with the free subscription, sessions cannot exceed one hour. In addition, games can run at 60 frames per second in Full HD (1080p). You can also activate the ray-tracingwhich emulates the path of light and its interactions with the environment, and DLSS, which improves the definition of an image by AI.
The catalog of games made available by GeForce Now is very comprehensive, and is made up of titles from the Steam, Epic Games, GoG and Uplay game stores. And every week, Nvidia adds a handful of games to its catalog. But if you want to play the titles offered in 1080p, remember that a connection of at least 25 Mb/s is required. And like the whole point of the cloud gaming is to be able to play your favorite titles anywhere, you can access them from a computer (Windows or Mac) or even on a smartphone. Moreover, Nvidia has added support for touch interfaces on its platform for certain games: no more need for a controller in these cases, therefore.
The Ultimate subscription: breathtaking performance
With the Ultimate subscription, we are clearly moving upmarket. Here, Nvidia simply offers a platform based on the GeForce RTX 4080. As we noted during our test, the experience is frankly amazing: a latest-generation open world game like Watch Dogs Legion can thus run at 69 images per second on average in 3440 x 1440 pixels with all.
The brand also points out that gaming sessions on the fastest servers can last eight hours instead of six, and that the graphics displayed will go up to 4K at 120 fps. Some competitive games, such as Rocket League et Fortnite can even enjoy 240 frames per second in 1080p definition. Suffice to say that the fluidity is exemplary in both cases. Obviously, the ray-tracing and DLSS can also be activated to improve the realism and fluidity of each image.
However, make sure you have a connection of at least 45 Mb/s to take full advantage of a 3840 x 2160 definition at 120 frames per second. And if you decide to play on a PC or a television, we strongly advise you to connect an Ethernet cable to benefit from a stable connection. If you want to use a Wi-Fi network, it is better to favor the 5 GHz frequency, or even Wi-Fi 6 if your devices are compatible.
