The General Mayor of the Capital, Nicusor Dansays that former candidate Călin Georgescu has a chance to win the case he wants to open at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) regarding the annulment of the presidential elections.
“I think that the litigations he made have no chance of success. It was populist on his part to call the supporters to say that they have a chance to win, but to go to the ECHR they needed this litigation, because it is one of the rules of the ECHR, that you can only go when you have exhausted all stages in the national courts. From a technical point of view they needed this litigation. At the Bucharest Court of Appeal and the High Court they could not question the decision of the CCR and that is why they had no chance, instead the ECHR can question the decision to annul the CCR. So with the data we have at the moment, based on the CCR’s motivation, if no new data appears, he has a chance at the ECDO”, Nicuşor Dan told DIGI 24.
He mentioned that the ECHR can find that the CCR and later the Electoral Bureau illegally canceled the elections in Romania.
