Georgia would follow the Hungarian path

Lately Georgia is increasingly looking at Hungary’s example when it comes to asserting its own national interests within the framework of the European Union and NATO, reports the Sputnik Georgia news portal. In the course of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s policy, he emphasizes that Hungary does not simply follow major political directions, but prioritizes its own national interests.

According to Sergej Markedonov, a senior researcher at the Moscow Institute of International Relations, Orbán clearly articulates,

that even though he is a Western politician, he considers the interests of Hungary to be the most important, especially when it comes to the creation of peace in Ukraine.

Georgian leaders, who want to shape their own situation in the same way, find this attitude an example to follow.

Viktor Orbán was one of the first to congratulate the Georgian Dream party on its victory in the parliamentary elections, and plans an official visit in the near future.

This visit is particularly significant as Orbán will be the first leading politician to make an official visit to the Caucasus country after the elections.

During the trip, Orbán will be accompanied by, among others, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Economic Development Márton Nagy, Minister of Finance Mihály Varga, and State Secretary János Máté. With this visit, the political and economic relations between Hungary and Georgia can be further strengthened,

providing a new perspective for both countries in cooperation and strengthening their role in the region.
