GERB-SZDSZ won the most votes in Bulgaria in the early election

Citizens for the European Development of Bulgaria-Union of Democratic Forces (GERB-SZDSZ) party alliance won the most votes in Bulgaria in the early election held on Sunday, according to exit poll surveys conducted among those leaving the polling stations.

According to a survey conducted by the Alpha Research polling company, GERB won 26.4 percent of the votes in the seventh election held in three and a half years. The Let’s Continue Change-Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB) came in second place with 14.9 percent of the vote. The Újjászületes party came third with 12.9 percent of the votes. According to data from Alpha Research, GERB-SZDSZ won 74 parliamentary seats, PP-DB 42, and Újjászületés 36 in the 240-member legislature.

A total of seven political forces made it into the legislature, according to exit poll data.

The early election on Sunday was made necessary by the fact that the Bulgarian parties could not agree on the formation of a coalition government following the results of the June 9, 2024 parliamentary elections.
