BERLIN – Germany is ready to significantly reduce funds intended to strengthen partner states in the areas of security, defense and stabilization – a section of its budget that usually includes support for Ukraine, the draft state budget for 2025 shows.
The money allocated to support partner countries will be reduced to four billion euros in 2025, which is a drop from the 7.5 billion euros allocated in 2024, according to the draft budget that “CNBC” had access to. The fund was allocated around 5.4 billion euros in 2023, according to the draft budget.
In recent years, large amounts of this part of the German budget have been allocated to support Ukraine after the Russian special military operation against that country, reports SEEbiz.
The German government now expects Ukraine to be able to cover a significant portion of its military needs and requirements from the $50 billion support package agreed by the G7 last month, according to the draft budget.
