The Giallorossi sporting director opened up about the return to the capital of the midfielder who was closed in Milan by the wide competition, which brought him to the margins
On the evening in which Roma won the derby against Lazio, the Giallorossi sporting director, Florent Ghisolfiopens up to the possible return to the capital of Davide Frattesi leaving the club’s intentions clear, ready to take advantage of the opportunity already in this winter window.
Derby and Frattesi
Roma closed the first half of the season with a smile, certainly not an easy one, winning the derby against Lazio thanks to an important performance in front of their fans. The 2-0 scored by Pellegrini and Saelemaekers in what is always much more than a simple match, however, it is not the only happy note of the Giallorossi evening, inflamed in key market already before the pitch response from the sports director, Florent Ghisolfi.
Ghisolfi opens Frattesi
Interviewed before the start of the match by Diletta Leotta and Massimo Ambrosini for DAZN, the sporting director of Roma he couldn’t avoid answering a few questions about the transfer market, which will inevitably monopolize attention beyond the football played until February 3rd. In particular, just a few minutes from Rome-Lazio, Ghisolfi has in fact confirmed the rumors that have circulated in recent days about the possible return to the Giallorossi of the midfielder now playing for Inter, Davide Frattesi.
“Frattesi, son of Rome”
Ghisolfi, in fact, explained: “Frattesi at Roma? He is a player we like, but I don’t want to comment on transfer rumours, especially just before a derby. I can say about Davide that he is a good player and, like Lorenzo Pellegrini, so is he he is a son of Rome…“. The Inter player, in fact, in addition to being born and raised in Rome, after a brief period in the Lazio youth team, is a product of the Giallorossi youth team, before exploding in Sassuolo.
Frattesi less central at Inter
In the Nerazzurri since 2023, after two excellent years in Emilia, Frattesi had already been one step away from returning to Roma at the time, but then preferred Inter. Last year it arrived scudetto of the second star in which he contributed with performances and goals, often as a substitute. A role confirmed also this season, but with the increase in competition (read Zielinski, ed.), the playing time given to him by Inzaghi has been reduced visibly.
Exchange with Pellegrini?
For Frattesi, in fact, they were just four games as a starter with as many games played entirely from the bench and the last part of the year which saw him take over more often only in the final minutes. Now the road could bring Davide back to Rome, perhaps in an exchange with Lorenzo Pellegrini. A difficult intersection, but not impossible, even more so after Ghisolfi’s words.
A possible fit
What is certain is that Inter are unlikely to deprive Inzaghi of their twelfth man from last year. As pointed out by La Gazzetta dello Sportto see Frattesi leave, the Nerazzurri ask at least 40 million euros. It is equally true that player i not even 600 minutes played so far they can only stay tight and, one way or another, a solution will have to be found, whether it is still in Milan or in the capital, perhaps already in this January transfer window. The Giallorossi are vigilant and are preparing not to miss the chance to welcome back Frattesi, the son of Rome.
