Dumitru Dragomir, former president of the Professional Football League, believes that Gigi Becali will make a huge mistake if he lets Ionuț Panțiru (28 years old) go for free.

The talented left defender was the starter in the FCSB – Gloria Buzău 3-2 dispute, but the billionaire from Pipera ordered his replacement after only 29 minutes. Later, Gigi Becali publicly destroyed Panțiru and threatened to kick him out.

Returning from a serious injury, which kept him away from official competitions for more than two years, Ionuț Panțîru received some good chances from the technical staff, and at the beginning of the 2024-2025 season he really impressed with his performances.

However, the situation changed after the match FCSB – Gloria Buzău 3-2, from the 12th stage of the championship. Pantîru started this game as a starter, but Gigi Becali ordered to be changed after only 29 minutes. The technical staff complied, and the more experienced Risto Radunovic was sent to the field instead of Panțiru.

After the match, Gigi Becali spoke to reporters in front of the palace he owns in Aleea Alexandru, and on this occasion he announced that Ionuț Panțîru will be fired from FCSB:

Come on, goodbye! Go away, father, and leave us alone! (no – Does he get any more chances?) He doesn’t get any more chances!”, declared Gigi Becali, among others, before arguing what displeased him about the defender.

The statements made by Gigi Becali on nerves were also commented by Dumitru Dragomir, and the former head of the LPF believes that removing Panțiru from FCSB would be a huge mistake:

Becali was wrong in a problem with Panțiru. Pantîru is in the top three defenders of this country in his position! And Becali lets him go for free. You will see where Panțiru will go, that he will become a starter in the national team. Pantîru has great strength of character. Due to the injury he had, no one returned to football. I had something like that and I know what it means. And he worked, he had so much power. Here the FCSB is also to be congratulated for keeping him and paying for his hospitalization”, said Dumitru Dragomir, quoted by Fans.

Gigi Becali says that Ionuț Panțiru “plays cool”

In the current season, Ionuț Panțiru made 8 appearances for FCSB, and 7 of them he recorded in the championship. After the narrowly won match against the newly promoted Gloria Buzău, Gigi Becali explained what bothered the defender:
