Gigi Becali, refused by Mihai Rotaru. The FCSB patron’s proposal did not convince the Craiova University financier

Gigi Becali received a categorical refusal from the financier of the University of Craiova, Mihai Rotaru.

The owner of FCSB is fed up with Romanian referees and wants to be able to bring central players from abroad, whom he does not know, to Superliga matches. The millionaire is ready to pay more to be refereed by foreigners, but his idea was not approved by Răzvan Burleanu, nor by his rival from Bănie, Mihai Rotaru.

Mihai Rotaru wants Romanian referees for the Super League matches: “We want the refereeing school to develop”

Gigi Becali announced at the Palace that he wants foreign referees, but he is not supported by the other contenders for the title. Mihai Rotaru intervened on this topic and stated that he does not agree to foreign arbitrators coming because the Romanian arbitration school needs to develop. In addition, the championship has high-calibre referees and some pretty good young backs are coming.

Not! We do not want foreign arbitration in Romania. The arbitration from us produced Feșnic, Bîrsan or Kovacs. They are the young firebrands who come from behind. Today, I didn’t understand Feșnic at the yellow in the middle of the pitch. It was a foul on Oshima. It was a game foul and without any intensity. We don’t want foreign referees. We want the arbitration school to develop”, declared the patron of Craiova University, la Digisport.

Răzvan Burleanu excludes the option proposed by Gigi Becali: “We don’t deal with requests”

The president of the Romanian Football Federation sent a clear message related to the possibility of appointing foreign referees to Superliga matches. Burleanu excludes the version requested by Gigi Becali and highlights the fact that Romania currently has brigades of referees at the international level. Romanian refereeing has developed a lot in recent years and there are a huge number of requests for teams led by Romanians, from federations abroad.

In Europe, we see delegations of Romanian referee brigades in all possible competitions, and the last Europa League final was refereed by a brigade from Romania. Outside the country, we do not deal with the requests from the federations with which we have very close relations – Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, who request our Romanian referees. Therefore, we, the FRF, will never support the bringing of foreign referees to Romania”, is the categorical message sent by Răzvan Burleanu.

Foreign referees were last assigned to League 1 matches in the 2012/2013 season. The matches for which foreign referees were delegated were:

FCSB– SC Vaslui (27th stage)
Rapid Bucharest – FCSB (28th round)
Dinamo Bucharest – Cluj University (29th round)
Dinamo Bucharest – CFR Cluj (30th round)
Oţelul Galati – SC Vaslui (33rd stage)
FCSB – Dinamo Bucharest (33rd round)
CFR Cluj – FCSB (34th round).

FCSB, Dinamo and Rapid have borne all the costs with referees delegated from abroad, from the arbitration scale to the costs of accommodation, transport and translator.
