Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip6 will soon have a new opponent all over the world. Until now very cautious about the folding smartphone segment, Xiaomi is preparing to accelerate by launching its Mix Flip in new countries. This smartphone, which we have already been able to get our hands on, is the first folding clamshell smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer. It comes as Xiaomi is already on its fourth generation of folding smartphones, but no “Fold” model has made it to France. It is also likely that the Mix Fold 4 will follow the same path and mainly target the Chinese market.
The Mix Flip is coming worldwide (and probably to France)
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has other plans for the Mix Flip as he himself explained on X: “We are thrilled to announce that the Xiaomi MIX Flip will be coming to global markets this September. This would not have been possible without the incredible support of our Xiaomi fans!”.

A message that has the merit of being clear on the brand’s intentions to come and confront Samsung and Motorola with its clamshell model. We should quickly know more since the Chinese firm plans event on September 26 to present the Xiaomi 14T series. It could take advantage of this conference to discuss the Mix Flip.
Xiaomi’s first clamshell model, the Mix Flip, will arrive with some interesting features. This smartphone has a 6.86-inch folding AMOLED screen, displaying a definition of 1,224 x 2,912 pixels. The panel climbs to 120 Hz and claims a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.
Launching a clamshell model, an obvious choice for Xiaomi?
A large AMOLED secondary screen (4 inches, 1,392 x 1,208 pixels) accompanies the smartphone. Inside, we find a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip flanked by 12 to 16 GB of RAM and 256, 512 GB or 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The photo part includes a 50 Mpx main sensor (f / 1.7) and a 50 Mpx telephoto lens (f / 2.0) with a 2x optical zoom. For selfies, the Mix Flip offers a 32 Mpx camera (f / 2.0).
Finally, there is a 4,780 mAh battery compatible with 67 W fast charging (wired). The folding clamshell smartphone measures 167.5 x 74 x 7.6 mm when unfolded and 74 x 74 x 16 mm when folded. The weight is 190 g or 192 g depending on the finishes.
In China, it starts at 5,999 yuan, which is around 760 euros excluding taxes. This is an indicative price since the smartphone should be much more expensive in Europe. We are also waiting to find out if the Mix Flip will benefit from a release in France, but we are rather optimistic on the subject. Known for the quality-price ratio of its products, the Chinese brand could still surprise. It leaves itself the option by betting on the clamshell folding model, reputed to be more affordable than the “Fold” models.
During the summer, a Bulgarian Xiaomi manager still mentioned a price around 1,300 euros in Europe. In any case, we will be far from the most accessible models of the brand.
