GlobalConnect bets on AI: launches Center of Excellence and collaboration with university

GlobalConnect has started an exclusive collaboration with Oslo University’s AI program and is simultaneously launching a new Center of Excellence to strengthen the company’s competencies and application within artificial intelligence, advanced data analysis and handling of master data.

The goal is clear: to position GlobalConnect as a leading player in technology development and innovation by developing powerful tools that promote better decision-making and more efficient operations.

As a first step, approximately 40 potential AI application areas have been identified, and five of these will then be selected for an initial proof-of-concept phase.

“We want to see clear results that demonstrate how the AI projects can affect operations, and the early tests help us refine our long-term AI strategy,” says CEO of GlobalConnect Group, Martin Lippert.

Collaboration with academia paves the way for the future

One of the most important foundations for GlobalConnect’s AI venture is the newly established collaboration with the University of Oslo. Through a three-year agreement, master’s students from the university’s AI program will participate in the group’s AI projects.

“Oslo University has a very interesting program dedicated to artificial intelligence. The partnership gives us the opportunity to get the latest knowledge directly from academia,” says Martin Lippert.

The strategic collaboration with academic institutions strengthens GlobalConnect’s development and use of artificial intelligence and at the same time builds a bridge between research and application.

In addition to the University of Oslo, GlobalConnect is also part of AI Sweden, which is one of Europe’s leading AI research centers. Through the partnerships, GlobalConnect hopes to be able to maintain and develop its position as one of the leaders in AI and continue to contribute to technology development in the Nordics.

Anders Arpteg as head of the Center of Excellence

Experienced AI manager takes the helm

To lead the new AI venture, GlobalConnect has hired Anders Arpteg as head of the Center of Excellence. He has 20 years of experience in artificial intelligence and data analysis, most recently from a role as head of data science and AI at the Swedish police intelligence service, Säkerhetspolisen. Previously, he led AI initiatives at tech giants such as Spotify and Peltarion.

“We are incredibly happy that Anders has taken on this challenge. His deep understanding of both the technical and business side of artificial intelligence will be invaluable for our continued development in the field,” says Martin Lippert.

GlobalConnect’s new Center of Excellence will be officially inaugurated on 1 October 2024.
