With a new data platform in Microsoft Fabric, GLS strengthens its data strategy and prepares for future challenges in AI and business insights.
About the new collaboration, Søren Toft Joensen, CCO and Partner in twoday Data & AI, says:
“We are very much looking forward to working with GLS Denmark to move their work with data up into the digital super league. It is clear to see that GLS Denmark has been far-sighted and laid out a clear data strategy for where they want to go and what they want to achieve.”
Søren Toft Joensen also elaborates on the choice of Microsoft Fabric as data platform:
“The high demand we see for lakehouse platforms such as Microsoft Fabric underlines a clear need for flexible and scalable data solutions in the market, so that companies are geared to exploit the great potential of AI solutions.”
Andreas Benthin-Bruun, Head of Data at GLS Denmark, explains his thoughts on the project:
“The background for developing the data platform of the future arises as a result of the development that GLS has undergone over the past five years. Our current platform has given us indispensable insights into our business, but as we’ve moved, our needs have changed. The project with the data platform of the future must not only secure our current needs, but also put us in a position where we can execute on our data strategic initiatives, especially within AI.”
A strategic choice
If you ask Andreas Bentin-Bruun why the choice fell on the Microsoft Fabric platform and twoday as supplier, the answer is clear:
“Microsoft Fabric is a strategic choice for us. A large part of our system landscape is already Azure-based, which means that we can seamlessly integrate with the systems and focus our time on the value-creating tasks. In addition, we have great faith in Fabric and the roadmap that has been laid out, so that it can support strategic initiatives in the future. We have chosen twoday Data & AI as a collaboration partner, as we have had great success with them in previous projects. We are particularly pleased with their ‘co-build’ setup. This approach allows us, in addition to implementing new solutions, to increase the competences of our own employees, so that we can take care of and further develop the solution after the course has ended,” explains Andreas Benthin-Bruun.
Strengthens the data value chain
GLS Denmark has high expectations for the new data platform.
“The data platform will strengthen our entire data value chain, from extraction to the point where output creates value. This focus on strengthening the entire value chain will improve collaboration across our departments and create more holistic data products, so that we gain a much more nuanced insight into our business,” says Andreas Benthin-Bruun. He concludes:
“Our employees will experience greater flexibility and transparency in their work with data, which will lead to better decisions and faster time-to-market. A holistic and robust data foundation ensures reliable and up-to-date insights, meaning we can make our decisions on a strong basis, even in changing market conditions. When we make better decisions, our products and services will improve, providing a better user experience for the benefit of our customers and package recipients.”
