GoldenPeaks Capital concludes one of Hungary’s largest HTM deals with Faerch Group

(Press release) GoldenPeaks Capital (“GPC”), one of Europe’s fastest growing independent green energy producers, has successfully concluded Hungary’s largest HTM deal. The agreement was signed with Faerch Group, a leading supplier of circular, multipurpose food packaging, with support from LevelTen Energy and Reel.

The president and founder of GoldenPeaks Capital, Adriano Agosti, made the following statement: “This step is a milestone in our leading role in the development and strengthening of renewable energy sources in Eastern Europe. After countless successfully implemented Eastern European projects, this is not only GoldenPeaks’ largest project in Hungary, but also one of the largest in the country’s history.”

The expected production of HTM for 12 years, paid depending on physical production, is 15 GWh/year, which means a total of approximately 180 GWh of green electricity during the entire duration of the agreement.

As an illustration of efficiency, 15 GWh/year saves approximately 3,900 tons of CO2 per year through HTM, which is equivalent to offsetting the annual CO2 emissions from the household electricity consumption of approximately 10,000 EU citizens.

Faerch Group is a leading supplier of circular, multi-purpose food packaging with integrated recyclability. The deal for physical HTM was supported by LevelTen Energy, the operator of the world’s largest HTM market, and Reel, a new generation electricity provider.

Tom Sand-Kristensen, CFO of Faerch Group, said the following: “Faerch Group is proud that GoldenPeaks Capital, LevelTen Energy and Reel were able to work together on this deal, as this 15 GWh/year 12-year solar HTM provides reliable, cost-effective renewable energy for Faerch’s sites in Hungary, and this is a another significant milestone in our renewable energy strategy, which aims to supply all our sites with additional renewable energy through HTMs.

Anders Engtoft Meldgaard, head of quality assurance and co-founder of Reel, said this: “We are proud to have supported the Faerch company in concluding this pioneering MOU in Hungary. This deal aligns perfectly with Reel’s mission to create a new way for companies to purchase electricity and accelerate the transition to renewable energy .”

Flemming Sørensen, European Vice President of LevelTen Energy, said the following: “LevelTen Energy is proud to contribute its expertise to this landmark transaction and we are delighted that the LevelTen Energy Marketplace was able to connect these industry-leading companies and enable them to sign an MOU in a growing market, very in a competitive environment. We look forward to continuing to support development with our friends at Faerch Group, GoldenPeaks and Reel.”

In recent months, GoldenPeaks Capital has signed several Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in Eastern Europe with companies such as Google, Reckitt and Mondelēz International, providing renewable energy and asset-based green certificates to help these companies meet their carbon reduction goals.

GoldenPeaks Capital is even more committed to helping the decarbonization efforts of Hungarian companies, thus supporting them in the transition to green energy sources and contributing meaningfully to the achievement of their sustainability goals. Among the company’s ambitious plans is expansion in the country, bringing competitive, flexible, efficient and customer-oriented solutions to the market.

GoldenPeaks Capital recently received an award for its green commitment: Moody’s awarded the highest sustainability quality score (SQS1) for their green bond framework.
