New features with One UI 7
With One UI 7, Samsung wants to make its personalization tool Good Lock available worldwide. The app will also be available in the Play Store in the future.
With Good Lock, Samsung has a personalization app in its range. This offers users extensive options for customizing their smartphones beyond the basic functions of the operating system. However, the app is currently only available in selected countries and only via the Galaxy Store.
This should change with One UI 7, according to a moderator of the Korean Samsung forum confirmed in a post. Accordingly, Good Lock will be rolled out worldwide in the future and will also be available via the Google Play Store.
New features in Good Lock
With the update, Good Lock receives a new user interface that is intended to display the content more clearly and make the functions easier to access. The search function should also be improved to make navigation easier.
There are major changes to Home Up, for example. This function now allows free placement of home screen elements without grid restrictions. Users can also personalize their screens with stickers and customize gesture animations. The customization options for the edge panel and the taskbar on folding devices should also be expanded.
The Game Booster+ aims to improve the gaming experience on the smartphone by optimizing the performance of games. This makes it possible to manually categorize apps as games and reassign gamepad buttons. GPU settings can also be optimized for Vulkan games.
Availability in One UI 7
Good Lock will be available worldwide with the launch of One UI 7 and can then be downloaded from both the Galaxy Store and the Google Play Store. Some of the new functions can already be tested in the One UI 7 beta. Other functions, however, will only be rolled out gradually. Functions from Good Lock that are well received by users will gradually be incorporated into One UI.
One UI 7 is expected to be unveiled alongside the Galaxy S25 at the end of January. After that, Samsung will probably announce a more precise schedule for the rollout to other devices.
