Eight years have passed since, after the great action of “Vesti”, comrades, humane people from this region and our readers, built him a smaller house in his native village of Troštica on the slopes of Golija, and Miloš Jovanović, a seriously ill warrior from Košar, still he barely survives and fears every day whether he will run out of flour, light and medicine and whether he will be able to feed himself and his sister Marina, who also has serious health problems, this winter.

Great support

Until a year ago, their mother Rosa, who lost her battle with cancer on January 10, lived with Miloš and Marina in misery and suffering. They were very supportive and will be greatly missed. The donation of 300 francs, sent to them by the Alimpijević family from St. Gallen in Switzerland, on the eve of New Year 2025 and Christmas, arrived at “a minute to twelve”, when they were left with only ten kilograms of flour in the house and while they, since they had not paid for electricity for a long time, there was a danger that they would remain in the dark.

We will buy two or three sacks of flour, we will settle part of the debt for electricity, we will also get the most necessary medicines, thank you very much to the noble Alimpijević family from Switzerland who, as I was informed, made happy a few more poor people in this area these days, all honor to them, God bless them happiness and health, I don’t know what I would do, sick and weak like this, without the help of big-hearted people from the white world, for years they have been helping me to survive in this backwater, I don’t know yet how long will I last – says Miloš.

As a nineteen-year-old and an active soldier, Miloš fought bravely in Kosovo and Metohija and remained in the hell of Košar until the end, not retreating an inch from the superior enemy, and when, covered in wounds and burns, he returned to his native village and his poor, from which he set out to defend his homeland, he fell seriously ill. Metabolic, hormonal, psychological and other diseases came to him one after the other, even though he was literally starving, quickly, at 70, he gained weight to as much as 160 kilograms, and for a while he was immobile.

The fact that the state turned its back on me and that I didn’t even have health insurance for 17 years hurt me more than all the wounds, so when I was seriously ill I had to pay for every examination and every medicine. When I couldn’t take it anymore, I stopped treatment, and the diseases progressed – says Miloš and points out that Vesti and humanitarian Hido Muratović were the first to come to his aid.

He doesn’t sleep at night

Miloš has completely broken down mentally, he often dreams of his dead comrades and the difficult battles in which he participated, he shouts in his sleep, asks for help and wakes up drenched in sweat, sometimes he just cries, and sometimes he is very aggressive, so his sister Marina and the neighbors have to they calm down. All this is a consequence of the horrors he saw and survived in Košare.

However, he is not forgotten

Although he has no income and is totally disabled, unable to do any work, Miloš does not receive any help from the army or the state, he cannot even receive a disability pension. is the most worrying. It was only in October, after he received first 600 dollars from Sydney, and then another 200 dollars, which enabled him to buy firewood, that Miloš was convinced that he was not alone and that he was not locked up, as confirmed by the latest donation from St. Gallen, he hopes that even in 2025, fellow soldiers and our readers will not let him down.
