Google bans ads related to the US presidential election –

After the polls are closed, it will no longer be possible to display politically charged advertisements.

Google has announced that it will ban advertisers from running ads related to the US presidential election on its pages after the polls close on November 5. The Axis according to the report, this is the second time the tech giant has taken such a measure – it first introduced the rule during the 2020 elections.

Google decided on the restriction mainly out of “precaution” and to “reduce the possibility of misunderstandings”, given that the counting of votes is expected to continue after election day. During the 2020 presidential election, for example, it took days for Joe Biden’s victory to be confirmed, primarily due to the increase in postal votes due to the pandemic.

Google’s policy applies to all ads related to the US election that run on the company’s advertising platforms, such as Google Ads, YouTube, or other platforms.

Meta will also follow similar practices. The company will block politically charged ads in the final week of the US election campaign, just as it will in 2020. In addition, Meta also requires advertisers to disclose when they use artificial intelligence or other digital tools to edit their ads.
