Google Calendar – has been added with a much-awaited function

Many users will really be happy with this new feature.

Dark mode has finally become available on the web interface of Google Calendar, which has arrived as a long-awaited feature for users. This update is especially useful for those who use the calendar at night, as the dark theme is less straining on the eyes.

It was announced on the Google Workspace Updates blog that dark mode is part of a comprehensive visual update that aligns with Google’s Material Design 3 standards, giving Google apps a more modern, user-friendly and accessible look.

With the update, users can now easily switch between light and dark mode and set the calendar to automatically adjust to the theme used by their device. In addition, the update brought new icons, more modern and easier-to-read buttons. The renewal of the interface also improves the user experience, offering a cleaner and easier-to-use interface. The settings menu has also become simpler.

To activate dark mode, follow these steps:

  • Click the settings icon in the upper right corner of Google Calendar.
  • Select “Appearance”.
  • Set the desired mode: light, dark or device-based setting.

This setting will affect not only the calendar, but also Google Tasks, which are now fully integrated into the Google Calendar web interface. This new interface will also appear for those who access the tasks via tasks.google.com.

It’s important to mention that the update may cause compatibility issues with certain Chrome extensions, so Google recommends that users check their extensions if they experience any issues.

The introduction of dark mode has already started for Rapid Release domains, while Schedule Release domains will receive the update from December 2. The update is now available for all Google Workspace customers. This visual update not only brings aesthetic improvements, but also significantly enhances the user experience, especially for those who use the app in low light conditions.
