The feature was added to Google Calendar on the web last year and its mobile version was spotted in a recent APK last month. In the Calendar app, a Tasks icon will now appear positioned at the top right between your profile picture and the view button Today. Tapping it will open the familiar Google Tasks interface, where you can mark tasks as complete once they’re done.
The integration of Tasks in Google Calendar on Android is now rolling out to Google Workspace customers, Google Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts. For now, it is only available for Android users and there is no news on an iOS launch anytime soon.
With Google Calendar now displaying tasks and task lists, the standalone Google Tasks app is becoming less and less essential. However, if you want to have the widget Tasks above screen initial of your phone for quick access to task lists or to create new tasks, you still need to use the Google Tasks app.
