Google Earth brings historic imagery and expands Street View coverage to 80 countries

Google Earth invites us, through its latest update, to explore the visual history of our planet and observe the transformations of human and natural geography over the past eight decades.

Another aspect to mention is the expansion of Google Street View coverage.

No less than 80 new countries, including Liechtenstein, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Paraguay are now accessible via this feature.

Sharper images thanks to AI

Sophisticated artificial intelligence algorithms are used to remove clouds, fog and haze from satellite images, providing a much clearer view of the Earth’s surface.

Availability on mobile and desktop

The update is not limited to the desktop application. Users will be able to access the new features both on their phones and through their favorite web browser.

The company announces that the image capture equipment for Street View has been upgraded, becoming lighter and more powerful.
