Artificial intelligence Gemini from the company Google is now part of a large part of Google services. Although the American software giant claims that it does not have access to user data without permission, the latest revelation shows otherwise. According to the portal XDA-developers it can supposedly scan files without your knowledge.

When AI assistants and chatbots started appearing in office packages, so people understandably started to worry about it. If you’re working on a private document with sensitive data, you probably don’t want an AI assistant to scan it and transfer your data to external server. At least not without your permission. Unfortunately, this has now reportedly happened to one user.
Kevin Bankston on a social network X described how he wanted to create a tax return in Google Docs. He states that after opening the tax return as a PDF file, an AI assistant suddenly appeared Gemini give us money summary of his taxes. Kevin claims he didn’t activate Gemini after opening the PDF file and didn’t provide any tax information himself.
However, he cannot rule out that when he previously opened another PDF file, he gave it permission to appear every time he opened that type of file. Therefore, he then asked Google Gemini how he could do it to ban. Unfortunately, the assistant gave him instructions about settings that did not exist. However, he eventually found the location of the setting to disable Gemini in Google Docs on his own.
The AI assistant didn’t help Kevin much with his taxes
Although human error cannot be ruled out in this case and Kevin should be taken with a grain of salt, according to the portal XDA-developers there’s still a risk that Google Gemini can see more of your files than you’d like. It is also interesting that when Kevin was asked if Gemini at least gave him useful advice on taxes and their reduction, the answer was no.
