A few days ago, Google presented a significant update to its Home application, which primarily brings redesigned media control, but also the ability to set various permissions for household members or new widgets.
More modern media control
The existing round volume control with large playback buttons will be replaced by a completely new interface. That’s it inspired by the look of Android and will offer a larger preview of the album along with clearer control. In the upper left corner you will find the application icon, below it the name of the song and the artist. The right side is then occupied by the play/pause button.

The new look also includes a more prominent volume slider in Material 3 design and buttons for ending streaming or opening the source application. Overall, in my opinion, the interface looks more modern and uniform. The update is gradually rolling out to both Android and iOS devices.

Individual access settings
Another significant innovation is the “Member access” function, which will enable smart home owners to access much more detailed information set access rights for individual members. While until now all users had virtually full access, it will now be possible to set different levels of permissions for roommates, children or babysitters, for example.
