Google is shutting down the official site soon

In the world of wearable technology, an era is coming to an end.

After the announcement in August about the cessation of production of Fitbit smartwatches, Google comes with new unpleasant news for fans of the brand: the site fitbit.com will end its activity at the end of this month.

Default confirmation of end for Fitbit

With the launch of the Pixel Watch 3 at the Made by Google 2024 event in August, the company implicitly confirmed the end for Fitbit.

We will no longer see new models from the popular Sense or Versa series, with Google instead focusing only on fitness trackers under the Fitbit brand: Luxe, Inspire and Charge.

These devices continue to be appreciated and occupy top positions in the lists of the best fitness trackers.

Closing the site, a symbolic moment

Although the end of smartwatches under this name was not a complete surprise, the closure of the official website is a symbolic moment for many loyal users.

Those who want to visit it one last time are now greeted with a banner with the following message: “On October 1st, the store is moving. Buy Fitbit products from the Google Store”.

The new home for Fitbit products

If we go where we’re told, we’ll see this welcome message: “You’ve arrived! The Google Store is the new home for everything Fitbit.

Start shopping below or get help with your account.”

The company’s commitment to users

However, Google emphasizes its commitment to the Fitbit brand, and especially to the customers who use and depend on these products and technologies.

It also promises that we’ll continue to see “new products and innovations from Fitbit.” At the moment, the exact details about them remain unknown.

The future of wearables and Fitbit’s legacy

Currently, both the Sense 2 and Versa 4 are still available for purchase, with no indication that they will be withdrawn from sale anytime soon.

In last month’s statement, the American company said that Fitbit’s innovations had a significant impact on the health and fitness functions built into the Pixel Watch 3.

It remains to be seen how the wearable market will evolve in the coming years and whether Google will be able to keep the spirit of Fitbit alive in its new products.
