Google Maps are a popular application on smartphones. During busy situations, for example in public transport or on a trip, it would be useful to have them available directly on the wrist – on a smart watch. This is of course possible, but so far they have only worked online. If you own some smart watch models, Google Maps you can also look at them in offline mode, that is, without the need to connect to the Internet. Two years ago, in August 2022, Google indicated that it would bring support for offline maps to devices with Wear OS. It finally happened. Google Maps in the version 11.140.0701.W pre Wear OS they will support downloading maps to the watch memory. Owners of all watches with this open operating system will receive the update. Among them are watches Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and later.
We must not forget about the upcoming ones Pixel Watch 3 or models Mobvoi TicWatchwhich also work on this operating system. The application should now welcome you with the message that offline maps are already available on your device. The user will be provided with an overview of how much storage space the downloaded maps take up. It will be possible to remove them with the click of a button.
