For many years, messaging applications compressed the quality of the multimedia they sent, which logically met with criticism from users. However, some of them have since fixed it and now an app is being added to them Google News. According to the portal AndroidAuthority will soon allow sending multimedia in the original quality.
The novelty works with RCS messages
The novelty appeared in the beta version of the application with a numerical designation 20241118_03_RC00. Thanks to the new option, Google Messages users will be able to share full-resolution images and videos in conversations through the increasingly widespread RCS protocol. It was recently finally accepted by the company Applewhich allows them to be sent to smartphones as well Apple iPhone.
It can be assumed that the function will appear soon also in the stable version of the application as part of its software update. When you get the update, you will be able to select “Media quality” in the upper right corner of the application. There you will find two options – Optimized for chats a Original quality.
The first option sends multimedia in a lower quality, which saves mobile data and speeds up the transfer. The other can send multimedia in full resolution, which is useful, for example, for photos in which the other party also needs to see details. The original quality option is highlighted with an icon HD+thanks to which you can easily distinguish it from optimized quality.

After selecting it, it is enough to mark the medium in Gallery and press Send. The quality setting you choose will apply not only to the current conversation, but also to all future conversations, which of course may not suit everyone. This is because the original quality can lead to higher data consumption, so if you forget that you have it set, you can quickly lose your prepaid data.
