Google Photos helps you know if a picture was taken with artificial intelligence –

Slowly, all these extra features will become really vital.

Google Photos plans to introduce a new feature that will help users identify if a photo was taken with the help of artificial intelligence. The Android Authority reports that this tool adds a new section to the image’s metadata that includes two key tags: “Credit” and “Digital source type”. The “Credit” tag shows which AI tool or platform was used to create the image, while the “Digital source type” indicates how the image was digitally created or processed.

This feature is expected to help users distinguish authentic photos from AI-generated ones, answering concerns about fraud.

However, it has been suggested that the tag is somewhat hidden in the metadata, which may make it difficult for users to discover it.

The feature is linked to Google DeepMind’s watermarking efforts, which aim to improve the transparency of AI-generated content in digital media. The feature appeared in Google Photos version 7.3, but has not yet been officially announced. It’s likely to be available soon, adding to Google Photos’ already existing suite of AI-powered tools like Magic Editor and Ask Photos.
