Google Pixel 11 will receive an analogue of Face ID for the first time in 2026. This technology has been used in iPhones for 7 years.

Google Pixel 11 will receive an analogue of Face ID that works under the screen, reports Android Authority.

According to the publication, Google is considering adding an infrared camera under the Pixel 11 screen to make face unlock work in the dark. Support for such cameras will appear in the Tensor G6 processor, which will receive the Pixel 11. The smartphone is scheduled for release in 2026.

Face ID first appeared on the iPhone X in 2017. Google used similar technology in the Pixel 4 in 2019, but it was abandoned in the Pixel 5 because the sensors in the Pixel took up much more space than in the iPhone.

According to rumors, an iPhone with Face ID under the screen will be released in 2026. Thus, these could be the first smartphones with face unlock sensors located under the screen. (Android Authority)
