Google is working on the Pixel Tablet 2, which would run on a faster chip, among other things. In addition, the search giant wants to release an official keyboard case for the device. This is not available for the first Pixel Tablet.
‘Faster chip in Google Pixel Tablet 2’
Google will probably release a new version of its Pixel Tablet in 2025. According to Android Authority The Google Pixel Tablet 2 runs, unsurprisingly, on a faster chip than its predecessor. This could be the Tensor G4, known from the Pixel 9 series, or the not yet launched Tensor G5. The original Pixel Tablet has an outdated Tensor G2 processor on board.
In addition, the search giant seems to be opting for a slightly different strategy. The first Pixel Tablet is an odd one out. For example, Google initially supplied a dock with each device, which turns the tablet into a kind of smart screen. Fortunately, you can now also purchase it separately, but the company does not offer a keyboard or stylus. This makes the tablet mainly suitable for entertainment.
That seems to change with his successor. Android Authority writes that Google does want to release an official keyboard cover for the Pixel Tablet 2. This turns the device into a compact laptop. We may also expect a stylus, which you use to make drawings.
Details about the hardware or, for example, the screen of the new tablet are still scarce. Google would opt for better cameras and make the edges below and above the display slightly thinner. You can also count on seven years of Android and security updates, just like with recent Pixel phones.
More about the Google Pixel Tablet
Google launched the first Pixel Tablet in 2023. It has a 10.95-inch LCD screen with a relatively low refresh rate of 60Hz. Competitors such as the OnePlus Pad 2 offer a nicer display. There is 8GB of RAM and 128 or 256GB of storage space.
The most special thing about the Pixel Tablet is, as mentioned, the dock. You can use this to charge the tablet and it also has a speaker that provides better sound. This standard also has a number of smart functions, but is more limited than the Google Nest Hub. It is not yet known whether the Pixel Tablet 2 will also have a dock.
