New feature
Google is apparently working on “Shielded Email”, a function that should at least reduce spam. The system is already known from disposable email addresses.
According to media reports, Google is currently developing a new system that will allow users to create “limited email aliases” – in short: disposable email addresses. This can be an advantage if you need to register for certain services or apps but want to prevent spam, for example.
Nowadays, the use of services or apps is usually tied to corresponding accounts that are created using an email address. But every additional registration with every additional app with the main email address increases the risk of receiving spam, which is why some users are already relying on third-party disposable addresses.
However, that could soon change. Because Google is said to be working on a feature called “Shielded Email”. Evidence of this feature was discovered in the latest version of Google Play Services number 24.45.33, as Android Authority writes. Various users have discovered a whole series of references to this in the depths of the APK.
How exactly or how deeply “Shielded Email” will be implemented in Android cannot currently be estimated. Nor when the feature will be officially announced or even released.
