Google tests button on YouTube to watch the best videos

More than its interface, YouTube sought to improve the functionalities and functioning of the service itself. With the desire to keep users present on the platform, Google wants to provide options that facilitate use. The most recent one brings a new button, which will help you watch the best videos.

Google tests new feature on YouTube

With its vast archive of videos and ever-expanding resources, YouTube offers its users a vast array of features. Recently, Google's video platform started showing random videos to users with the Play Something functionality. This way, you can give users new themes that suit their interests.

YouTube is now experimenting with a new feature that will enrich the user experience on its Android app. The new button, called “Play Something”, opens random content, eliminating the need for the user to make a selection in the interface. Even though it can be considered just a shortcut, it becomes important in the interface and usability.

The new button, which appears in the bottom right corner of the YouTube Android app above the bottom menu, opens a vertical video player similar to the Shorts format. Users receive personalized video recommendations based on their viewing history and preferences.

Have the best videos on the interface

On the vertical screen of the video, there are buttons for basic interactions such as liking, disliking, commenting and sharing. At the bottom there is a timeline. This feature uses Shorts not only for short videos but also for standard videos.

The “Play Something” button disappears when the minij-player that appears at the bottom of the screen is activated. This design choice allows users to focus on the video while keeping the interface uncluttered. This decision shows how there is attention to detail and the usability of this interface.

Even though it is currently being tested, this new feature may soon be released to all users. This is normal procedure at Google, both for YouTube and its other products. All that’s left to do is wait and see what the search giant has in store.
