Google TV with new Home Panel function for smart home control

Google TV is getting a new Home Panel feature that will appeal to a lot of users. What exactly does it bring?

Google TV is a smart TV platform that combines live TV, streaming apps, and now even more of a smart home. The foundation is still Android TV, but the new version offers a more organized and personalized user interface. Google TV is available on a variety of devices, including TVs from brands like Sony, TCL, Hisense, and newer Chromecast devices.

The list of supported streaming applications includes Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and many others, including Polish ones such as Polsat Box Go or TVP VOD. Thanks to integration with Google Assistant, we can control the TV using voice commands, searching for applications, launching them, searching for content, and for a long time also managing other smart home devices. Now, however, Google is going a step further.

Google TV with new Home Panel feature

Home Panel is a new feature in Google TV that was introduced to make it easier to manage your smart home devices directly from your TV screen. Home Panel is available in the Quick Settings section and opens as a side panel on the right side of the screen. This feature mirrors the Favorites tab in the Google Home app, showing lights, cameras (with live streaming), speakers, thermostats, and other smart home devices, as well as routines.

To access all devices, users can use tabs such as Cameras or Lights, which are located at the top of the panel. Home Panel also allows you to receive notifications from doorbells, allowing you to check who is at the door without having to interrupt your TV viewing.
