Google unblocked ads. We will advise how to solve it

  • Google has stopped supporting the Manifest V2 (MV2) platform
  • Because of this, adblock add-ons stop working for users
  • The display of advertising can be turned off

Internet advertising attacks us from all sides. Someone got used to it, but more experienced users automatically block it. There are many ad blocking software out there, but this was one of the most popular uBlock Origin. And we write “belonged” on purpose.

Google already decided to end support for the platform in May Manifest V2 (MV2)which according to Google is no longer so secure. Although there is a replacement for it, a more modern and safer one Manifest V3 (MV3)however uBlock Origin is missing from it. Which means that if you’ve been blocking ads through it, now they’re coming at you full force.

Two ad blocking solutions

Fortunately, the Internet is full of all kinds of open-source ad-blocking software, so you can find a solution to this problem quite easily. And you don’t have to go too far for it either – uBlock Origin Lite also works pretty solidly, although unfortunately not as flawlessly as uBlock Origin. Unfortunately, you are currently very limited in terms of add-ons in the Chrome browser.

Android World’s stance on ad blocking

Like many other web magazines, Svět Androida is dependent on income from advertising, which not only covers substantial operating costs, but also contributes to the fees of its individual creators. If you enjoy reading our content, we’d appreciate it if you’d consider suspending ad blocking on our site.

And this leads to the second solution – change browser. Most competitors (e.g. Opera or Microsoft Edge) support both MV3 and the older MV2. And ads can be a thing of the past for you.
