Since this week, a select group of Google Workspace users can get started with Vids, which uses a bit of AI to create a video presentation in the blink of an eye. The global rollout has begun yesterday and will be available for paid Workspace accounts in the coming weeks.
Google already unveiled their Gemini-powered video maker Vids this year. This allows you to create an entire video presentation based on a prompt or text in Docs. From storyboards and artificial voiceovers to animations and (royalty-free) images, Google Vids can edit it all for you.
This does come at a price because Vids is currently only coming to the Google Workspace Business, Enterprise and Education subscriptions, and of course you also have access if you pay for the Gemini extension.
Google may limit it in the future
Android Authority also found in the fine print of Google’s announcement, that Google Vids’ full access may be temporary. It will remain unlimitedly accessible for all these subscriptions until December 31, 2025. The company will then consider restrictions, such as allowing you to use only so many prompts per day or week before having to pay more.
For the time being, Google Vids only works optimally with the English language, in particular the generated voice-overs actually only work in English. Google does plan to add more languages in the future.
