Google’s amazingly useful anti-theft features have arrived –

Complementary security settings ensure the protection of our data stored on our mobile phone.

At the I/O developer conference in May, Google presented its new protection settings, which aim to protect mobile phones and the data stored on them in case of theft. The introduction of the functions has now officially begun, so they will soon arrive on all devices running a system newer than Android 10.

One of the most important settings is the artificial intelligence-based Theft Detection Lock (theft detection lock), which recognizes when our phone is in the hands of strangers. The function closes the device immediately after the theft is detected, thereby making the data on it inaccessible. According to Google, the algorithms can recognize movements typical of theft, so the lock can be activated in seconds.

If the system does not detect the theft, and the thief steals the device without much notice, Remote Lock will come to our aid, which provides the opportunity to lock the mobile using another device. All you need for this is the phone number of the stolen device and a quick security authentication to prove that your phone is really in the hands of someone else.

As a last resort, there is a function called Offline Device Lock, which is automatically activated when the mobile connection is lost. Criminals often start by taking the device offline, thus preventing the device from being tracked. In this situation – thanks to the function – the phone will ask for immediate authentication before granting access again.

Protection features are now available in Google Play Services beta version 24.40.33.
