Google’s NotebookLM turns your notes into a podcast

Google has given its NotebookLM a nice update that ChatGPT will be jealous of. Turn your data into a lively conversation between two ‘persons’.

NotebookLM is a bit under the radar but is a very nice product. It allows you to easily build your own language model (LM) from your own notes. This tool is especially ideal for those working on a project with a lot of research. NotebookLM makes your notes easily searchable and usable.

NotebookLM: Audio Overview

Google is introducing a new feature to NotebookLM today called Audio Overview. This update literally gives your notes multiple voices. These voices will have a conversation for you based on the material you provide. This way, you don’t have to wade through piles of notes, but you can listen to two AI voices.

How NotebookLm Audio Overview Works

This feature is available today and can be used immediately. Here’s how it works:

-Go to NotebookLM and open an existing note.

-Click on “Notebook Manual” at the bottom right

-Click the “Generate” button to have an Audio Overview created. This may take a few minutes.

Google has already generated a number of conversations for us and put them online, these are listen here. Is here is the conversation between two AI-created people who look ‘eerily’ like real Americans.

Google does want you to keep the following in mind when using Audio Overview. This feature only uses the information you put into the tool. Therefore, it is likely that the conversation does not provide an objective picture of a certain topic. The voices in Audio Overview are English (or rather American), but you can upload Dutch sources. Sometimes the AI voices are inaccurate and you cannot interrupt them. And most importantly, Google does not use your data that you put into NotebookLM for training purposes.
