Government approves minimum wage of 870 euros in 2025 – Economy

The Government approved this Thursday in the Council of Ministers a decree law that increases the minimum wage to 870 euros, plus 50 euros per month, “on a path agreed with the social partners that foresees reaching 1020 euros in 2028”, announced the minister of the Presidency.

António Leitão Amaro, who was speaking to journalists at the end of the Executive’s weekly meeting, highlighted that this increase “is significantly higher” than what was predicted by the previous Government, of 855 euros for 2025. “It is a significant effort to increase income in the work”.

The agreement signed by the last government expected it to reach R$855 in January. However, the 2024 target has already been revised upwards (to 820 euros, instead of 810). The increase to 870 euros per month implies a nominal increase of 6.1% in relation to the value that ended up coming into force this year.
