Adoption of amendments to the Law on Agriculture: Government and sector development
The Government of the Republic of Serbia established the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Agriculture and Rural Development, enabling farmers to register cadastral plots based on actual land use. After its adoption, a regulation will be adopted specifying the conditions and form of declaration for this procedure. Minister of Agriculture Aleksandar Martinović stressed the importance of this law for farmers, stressing the Government’s readiness to resolve their demands through cooperation and dialogue.
Cooperatives in Vojvodina: Tradition and challenges
At the annual meeting of the Cooperative Union of Vojvodina, the results of a difficult year for the cooperative sector were summarized. Danilo Golubović received a special recognition for his contribution to the cooperative, while Branko Krstin, agrarian journalist of the “Poljoprivrednik” newspaper, was awarded for the media affirmation of the association. This company, founded in 1953, today employs over 200 workers and produces 500 tons of sweets per year. The President emphasized the importance of the “Best from Vojvodina” brand and promised further support for the company’s development. Owner Aleksandar Stamevski announced the expansion of production to sugar-free products and ice creams.
Movements on the livestock market: Growth and decline in prices
At the livestock market in Čačak, the price of piglets rose to 350 dinars per kilogram, while in Loznica the prices of fattening pigs fell to 180 dinars. In the slaughterhouses of Mačva and Podrinje, piglets reached a price of 450 dinars, while the price of fattening pigs was in decline, which reflects changes in demand and supply.
Promotion of organic milk in Zlatibor
PD “Zlatiborski eco agrar” organized the promotion of organic milk “Naša Zlatka” in Zlatibor. Visitors had the opportunity to try healthy products in a natural environment, while the youngest enjoyed special gifts.
New funds for damage and development
The provincial government has set aside 100 million dinars for compensation for damage to agricultural crops in Bački Petrovac, caused by bad weather. Funds were also provided for the rehabilitation of infrastructure in Nova Crnja and Bečej, as well as for the removal of illegal landfills and the purchase of equipment for the maintenance of agricultural land.
