The Government will propose to social partners that the national minimum wage rises to 860 euros in 2025which, in practice, will correspond to an increase of around 4.9% compared to the current 820 euros. The news was announced this Tuesday by Ecowhich cites “sources familiar with the case”.
The proposal will be presented tomorrow, September 11, at the Social Concertation meeting scheduled with representatives of employers and unions.
The income agreement signed in 2022 by António Costa’s Government and which brought together employers’ confederations and the UGT provided for an increase to 855 euros for next year.
This time, the CGTP argues that the minimum wage should rise to 1000 euros and the UGT maintains that it will be possible to reach 890, in both cases far from what Luís Montenegro’s Government is preparing to propose.
Already The AD Government Program argues that minimum wage increases should be made in line with inflation and productivity increases and sets a target of 1,000 euros in 2028.
