A man in his 20s who killed his grandfather, who had been subjecting him and his family to domestic violence since childhood, by stabbing him several times with a weapon, sobbed as his grandmother pleaded for leniency during his first trial.

On the 15th, Seoul Eastern District Court Criminal Agreement Division 12 (Chief Judge Lee Jeong-hyeong) held the first trial for Mr. A (24), who was indicted on charges of parricide. Mr. A did not dispute the facts of the indictment and admitted to all charges.

On this day, Mr. A’s grandmother appeared in the courtroom in a wheelchair and appealed for leniency for her grandson. On the witness stand, the grandmother said, “(Mr. A) is still young, gentle and kind. “I was so drunk that day that I didn’t even see him pick up a knife,” he said. “I want the punishment to be less.” “I could exchange it for my life,” he said. Mr. A, who was listening to the grandmother’s remarks, sobbed.

Previously, Mr. A is accused of drinking alcohol at around 0:30 a.m. on August 6, visiting the house of a man in his 70s in Geumho-dong, Seongdong-gu, and stabbing him to death with a weapon. The victim, the grandfather, was taken to a nearby hospital but eventually died.

At that time, a report of ‘noisy noise’ was reported to the police, and the dispatched police arrested Mr. A as a red-light criminal. It was discovered that there were multiple reports of domestic violence at Mr. A’s grandfather’s house, and it was determined that this was not an incident between Mr. A and his grandfather.

As a result of the prosecution’s investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A had been strongly dissatisfied with the victim for assaulting him and harassing his grandmother since childhood. Afterwards, it was confirmed that on the day of the incident, Mr. A was drinking at home, but could not control his accumulated anger and killed the victim with a weapon.

The next trial for Mr. A is scheduled to be held on November 19th at 2:10 pm.
