Fabulous Friday discounts started at 20.00 on Thursday evening. Those who wanted to shop at affordable prices chose their products before the discount started and took their place in the checkout line. While consumers who did not want to miss the advantage formed long queues in front of the stores on Friday, there was no stampede like in previous years. Store employees explained the reason for this as a decrease in discounted products.
DISCOUNTED shopping day, Magnificent Friday, started in stores yesterday. Some brands went on sale both online and in stores as of 20:00 on Thursday evening. When we followed the situation in the stores on Thursday evening, we saw that people who knew that the discounts would start in the shopping malls came early and joined the checkout queue. There were similar scenes in the shopping malls we went to and we encountered a long queue inside the store. Citizens stated that they came to the store around 17.00, chose the product they liked and went to the checkout line around 19.00. However, it was seen that the queue that formed outside the store last year was replaced inside the store this year.
THEY ENTERED THE SHOPPING MALL BEFORE IT OPENED
‘amazing fridayAs ‘, we visited the shopping malls in Istanbul early in the morning on November 29, which is considered as a retail holiday all over the world, to follow the discounts. A queue formed in front of a shopping mall on the Anatolian side of Istanbul before the doors even opened. It was seen that more people preferred shopping malls than the density on Thursday evening. When the shopping mall opened its doors, people in line rushed to the store. However, some citizens who entered early from the other door of the shopping mall, which was open for store employees, had already bought their products and entered the checkout line.
THE NUMBER OF DISCOUNTED PRODUCTS HAS DECREASED
This year, unlike previous years, the queues were not concentrated in front of certain brands. There was a relatively more equal distribution and interest. When we talked to store employees, they said, “The intensity in the morning hours started to decrease throughout the day. They informed that “Last year the density was higher.” Employees said that not every product was on sale this year and that more products had discount last year.
According to our observations, some customers were not in a ‘Friday rush’. A group of people decided where to shop after visiting all the stores. An employee of a store informed that while it was quiet in the morning, the density increased in the afternoon, and explained the reason for this as follows: “It was emptier in the morning. By noon the queue had increased. “Consumers showed interest here because the discount rate was higher compared to other brands.”
‘WHAT WE WANT’ WE GOT IT’
We also talked to citizens who were shopping. While the discounted price is not written on the of each product in stores, citizens asked the question “How much discount is there on which product?” Some citizens bought the products by checking the discount on the online application. Some were surprised at the queue they saw and commented, “It’s like they’re giving it away for free.”
Shoppers stated that they bought the product they wanted and liked, but they did not set any budget. Shoppers generally preferred coats, jackets and sweaters. While one citizen said, “I bought what I wanted, but I couldn’t find the two sweaters on my list,” another said, “I had a few items in my cart and came to buy them.” “I don’t have a certain budget, I wanted a coat,” he said. A sister and brother stated that they found what they wanted and took their place in the queue without wasting any time.
