Great idea! OnePlus introduced the cheaper Watch 2R with Wear OS and up to 12 days of battery life

OnePlus has not been lazy, and a few months after the launch of the Watch 2, it comes with a lightweight version. New OnePlus Watch 2R should appeal especially to those who want a truly smart watch at a reasonable price. It offers the Wear OS operating system, a beautiful AMOLED display and a rather interesting appearance. But the biggest draw is the battery life.

OnePlus has bet on the new model aluminum body, which makes the watch weigh just 37 grams. That’s a quarter less than the original Watch 2. The design remains similar – round body with two buttons, against the competition (for example the Galaxy Watch) it still looks a bit more elegant. There will be two color variants – forest green and metallic gray.

It dominates the front 1.43″ AMOLED panel with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels and a maximum brightness of 1000 nits. There is also an Always-on function, so you can see the time even if you don’t wake up the watch. The chipset ticks inside Qualcomm Snapdragon W5, which is complemented by 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. All this runs on the Wear OS 4 system. But OnePlus also added its own BES 2700 MCU chip, on which the proprietary system is built RTOS for more efficient energy management. Of course, this system does not have many gadgets and applications, but it will serve well for recording health and sports activities.

The battery has capacity 500 mAh and the manufacturer promises up to 100 hours of normal use or even 12 days in power saving mode. However, this only applies if you don’t use Wear OS. There is also fast 7.5W charging.

Watch 2R can monitor heart rate, blood oxygenation, sleep and stress. Over 100 sports modes are available for athletes, including swimming (5ATM resistance), skiing or tennis. There is also dual-band GPS for accurate measurement of outdoor activities.

The OnePlus Watch 2R will be available in Europe from July 16 for a price of 279 euros, i.e. about 7,000 CZK.
