Although iOS 19 will be officially announced in June 2025 during the traditional WWDC, an important piece of news has already been leaked: Siri will become smarter and more conversational. According to Mark Gurman of Bloombergthe new assistant will take advantage of advanced large language models (LLM) to handle more complex requests, making Siri more similar to services like ChatGPT at OpenAI.
Despite the announcement expected for summer 2025, the enhanced Siri will not be available immediately. Gurman anticipates that this feature will come with iOS 19.4scheduled for spring 2026. So, Apple is aiming for a gradual rollout, dedicating time to perfecting this innovation.
In addition to Siri, other features planned for iOS 19 have been postponed at the same time window, marking a more diluted development strategy than usual. Gurman, however, did not provide details on the other postponed features.
Meanwhile, Apple is already preparing significant updates for Siri with iOS 18.2expected in December 2024. This update will include an integration with ChatGPTwhile a future version could introduce integration with Google Gemini. Additionally, iOS 18.4 will offer screen awarenessadvanced controls for individual apps, and other improvements, but it still won’t match the conversational capabilities of iOS 19.
